Flats and communal properties
Waste from flats (bulk bin collections)
We recently started delivering communal bins for recycling and refuse to over 200 flats and communal sites throughout the district.
Collection of both recycling and refuse (including food waste) from these properties will remain weekly. Your collection day will remain the same.
What goes in what bin?
Green mixed recycling bin
You can place recycling in carrier bags, clear sacks or empty straight into bin:
- paper, card
- glass
- household plastic packaging
- drink/food cartons
- aerosols
Grey rubbish bin
For all rubbish that cannot be recycled. You can use black bags inside this bin:
- Polystyrene
- Cling film
- Crisp packets
- Nappies and sanitary products
- Food waste
Food waste
At present, your food waste should be placed in the grey refuse bin (unless you are taking part in a food waste trial).
Food waste trials
We are currently carrying out food waste trials at some communal properties in the district. We hope to provide a separate food waste collection for all communal properties later this year.
Information leaflet
When delivering communal bins we issued residents with an information leaflet about the service. You can view/download a copy from the menu on the right.
