Advice about tree surgery

Professional tree care requires knowledge of plant care as well as the law relating to trees. It also requires expertise in the use of machinery that is potentially dangerous in the hands of an unskilled user.

The council is not able to recommend individual companies for tree surgery. However we do advise you to use a tree surgeon recognised by either the Arboricultural Association or the International Society of Arborists.

The Arboricultural Association has compiled a list of approved consultants and contractors available on their website or by telephone on 01242 522152.

The International Society of Arborists has a list of Certified Arborists available on their website.

All tree works should comply with British Standard 3998.
