About the award

South Oxfordshire District Council presented Healthy Choice Awards to 14 catering outlets in recognition of their achievements in food hygiene and healthy eating. This is the council-s largest presentation of awards to date and took place at the council offices in Crowmarsh Gifford at 10am on 12 March 2009.
South Oxfordshire District Council introduced the Healthy Choice Award to recognise those caterers that have hygiene standards above and beyond those required by legislation. As well as meeting high standards of hygiene, some caterers provide healthy food options as part of their regular menu and meet the criteria for the Healthy Eating element of the award. Since the launch of the scheme in 2005, 77 catering outlets have received the award.
