Didcot developments

Didcot has been a designated growth area since 1979 and it is the main focus for housing growth in South Oxfordshire in the emerging South East Plan.  The Government has also included Didcot as one of a number of potential growth points in the South East.  The Council submitted a bid for growth status in May 2006.  It sees this as the best means of securing investment in the town to fund infrastructure projects, like new roads and education and healthcare facilities.

We have been out carrying work specifically in relation to Didcot.  This included work on advising how the 3000 dwellings allocated in the South East Plan should be divided up between South Oxfordshire and the Vale of White Horse District Council.  We took a report to Cabinet on 20 December 2006. As part of this work a transport study was undertaken, the reports of which can be downloaded from the quicklinks menu on the right.  We have also completed a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment for the Didcot area.

Details of all the studies forming our evidence base both for Didcot and the rest of the district are available on our evidence studies page.
